What is CCS?

CCS is short for Carbon Capture & Storage, and in practice means capture of CO2 from flue gas sources, liquefaction of this and shipping to permanent storage.

CCS is an important contribution to slowing down global warming. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), CCS can contribute about 20 percent of the reduction in CO2 emissions needed to prevent uncontrolled global warming.

In CCUS Norway, we jointly build expertise and share experiences in environmentally and resource-efficient capture, use and storage of CO2. We discuss projects and common opportunities/challenges and we work together for improved framework conditions.
